Drawing 2

Drawing 2 was a bit more intensive and really focused on life drawing, preparing us for the ultra-demanding life drawing course that came next. One of my favorite activities in this class (especially since it was one of our first in-person courses after the pandemic quarantine) was a fun, interactive project. We each wrote down secrets or harmless personal details on a piece of paper and swapped them anonymously. Using the info I received from my classmate, I created a movie poster-style artwork titled Fryman. It was such a fun and creative experience!

I also created a self-portrait during this course that felt very personal and genuine, capturing a part of myself I hadn’t expressed before. Another piece I worked on was deeply sentimental, it helped me heal while mourning the loss of a dear friend I still miss to this day. That artwork became a meaningful part of my journey and reminded me how powerful art can be in processing emotions.

Even though we had to wear masks everywhere, I was just so happy to be back on campus, surrounded by people and doing what I loved. This course made me realize just how much I enjoy drawing, a discovery that carried me through and served me well in the next intensive life drawing course.
